Restaurant hiring engines 2026

What’s your hiring engine?
Every restaurant hires differently.
Some rely on word of mouth. Some live in Facebook groups. Some swear by Indeed. Others use Craigslist, their company website, or simply put a “Now Hiring” sign on the door.
After almost 20 years in hospitality, I’ve used just about all of them.
The truth?
Every hiring channel works… until it doesn’t.
- Word of mouth builds great teams, but it can be slow.
- Facebook is free and reaches a lot of people, but there are dozens of groups and it’s hard to know where your next cook or server is actually looking.
- Craigslist is inexpensive, but the candidate experience feels stuck twenty years ago.
- Indeed & ZipRecruiter can generate volume, but restaurants often pay hundreds of dollars only to sort through resumes that aren’t relevant to hospitality.
- Company websites work well if someone already wants to work for you—but how do they discover you in the first place?
- “Now Hiring” signs still work, but they’re seen mostly by customers and people driving by, not necessarily hospitality professionals.
There isn’t a perfect hiring channel.
Every restaurant eventually builds its own combination.
So I’m curious…
What’s your hiring engine? What has worked best for your restaurant?
